If you’re considering transitioning over to locs, but aren’t quite sure if the switch will be right for you, we’re going to lay down some loc benefits you might not be aware of.
Having locs has plenty of perks and benefits. While it isn’t a totally maintenance-freestyle, as some might think, it’s definitely a go-to natural hairstyle for so many for a reason. Depending on what style of locs you go for and what your expectations are, you can have extremely low maintenance locs. Or, your locs can be a style you really nurture to have that neater look. But, whichever style of locs you go for, the following benefits of having locs will certainly apply to you.
You Have a Style Everyday
Instead of having to plan out your hairstyle for the day or week, you have the style literally locked in for what could be years, or even a lifetime. You can actually just get up and go, which means you can get out of the house really quickly.
This also makes it a really appealing style for our children. It means we can get them out to school in the morning’s much faster instead of having to worry about their hairstyle for the day or week. That’s definitely something to consider! Make sure to ask your kids what style they want and fill them in on the potential benefits of having locs or any other style they may really love.
Versatile
Now, we don’t want you thinking that you’re stuck with the same style for life. There’s a plethora of styles out there just for locs and with social media, the styles just keep on coming. There are so many styles at this point, it’s even hard for us to keep up with all the different types of locs one can have and the variety of hairdos one can do with their locs. So, if you’re ever missing those days when you used to spend hours styling your hair, it’s still very much available to you.
It’s a Long Term Protective Style.
We are all about protective styles, which is why we wholeheartedly love locs. There are a few other long term protective styles out there as well that aren’t as long term as locs, like braids, or long term twists, but locs certainly rank way up there when it comes to a long term protective style. That means your roots, scalp and edges can all benefit from locs when maintained correctly.
Calming Effect
Yup, you read that right. Locs can really have a calming effect when you know you don't have to always figure out what to do with your hair. It’s an easy breezy calming mentality when you have locs. For some of us, it can even extend to those years that we may no longer have locs. We may then find ourselves with that ingrained calmness and ease when it comes to our hair and what style we’re going to go with.
If you have any questions about locs, you’ve come to the right place! Reach out to us, we’d love to hear from you!
